Les Hood – 40 Infantry Div & 48 Gurkha Provost Company – Hong Kong. 1956 – 1959.

Les first went to 40 Infantry Div in Hong-Kong, followed by the Hong Kong Provost Company, being attached for Two Years to 48 Gurkha Infantry Brigade at SEK – KONG in the New Territories. Les (19) as left hand marker at the Brigade Inspection.

On leaving the Army, we find Les joining Birmingham City Police where he served as P.C.’B’ 137 for 4.1/2 yrs followed by 5. 1/2 yrs in the CID before leaving to persue a living in agriculture.

Neil Stammers

Neil Stammers, called up for National Service September 1960 into Royal Signals, posted to Woking RMP 810 squad. Following Training posted to 101 Provost Co Dusseldorf then 101 Detachment Rhiendahlen Garrison.

A short while later got into MT with an Austin Champ and soon after had an Opel Kapitan (Soxmis car) patrol car later replaced by a new Ford Zephyr Mk2,carrying out High speed escorts,(ambulances) V.I.P escorts, and heavy escorts (Tank Transporters) and normal patrols within Rhiendahlen Garrison days and nights.

Terry Freeman – ‘ S.H.A.P.E’ – HQ – Paris 1959

Brigadier P.H. Richardson, British Army Provost Marshall (6th October 1959) visited SHAPE Provost Company, Royal Military Police, at Camp Voluceau, the Support Unit of Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, near Paris, France.  Brigadier Richardson took the salute at a March-Past of ‘SHAPE’ Provost Company in which detachments of the 520th MP Company US Army and the SHAPE Gendarmerie took part for the first time.
